Amy Winehouse: Remembered by Father on One Year Anniversary of Death

Amy Winehouse died one year ago today.

And in honor of the sad occasion, her father Mitch has written a tribute to his daughter in The Huffington Post.

"Amy always surrounded herself with music, even during her darkest times," Mitch writes. "Of course, I loved her voice - for me she was the greatest female vocalist of all time - but I also cherish Amy's lyrics."

Just this week, a new track by Winehouse ("No More Jazz N' Blues") surfaced online. Give it a listen above.

Mitch went on to say that he often listens to Amy's debut studio album ("Frank"), but can't bring himself to press Play on "Back to Black" because it reminds him of Amy's marriage to Blake Fielder-Civil and "all of the terrible things he put her through."

Overall?

"Sometimes listening to Amy's music helps me; sometimes it makes me feel more sad," Mitch concludes. "I miss Amy more than I can say. When I've finished writing this I'm going to sit down with a cup of tea and listen to Amy's recording of 'The Nearness of You.'"
