New Android apps worth downloading: Noom Walk Pedometer, Cartwheel, Samurai Shodown II

Get active in your everyday life with Noom Walk Pedometer, today's first app worth downloading. It tracks how far you walk during the day, in order to help you get more exercise, and uses as little battery as possible. Up next is the beta release of Cartwheel, Target Stores' new app that brings personalized discounts your way. Finally, Samurai Shodown II lets players take on one another in a sword-wielding fighting game ported from the 1990s.

Noom Walk PedometerWhat?s it about? Designed specifically with battery life in mind, Noom Walk Pedometer will keep track of your steps (and help with fitness) without killing your device every time you use it.

What?s cool? The idea behind pedometer apps is to keep track of how much walking, running, or what have you you're doing through out the day, in order to help you live a healthier lifestyle. Noom Walk Pedometer monitors your steps all day long, so you can see the benefit of walking to lunch or taking the stairs as time goes on. Better still, it was designed to be easy on your device's battery, and only sucks down 2 percent of it during a day, even if it's running the whole time. You can also connect with friends who use Noom Walk and comment on their activity, or issue ?high fives? to help motivate them.

Who?s it for? If you're looking for a way to be more active in every day life, Noom Walk can help.

What?s it like? You'll find more pedometers in the Google Play Store, such as Accupedo Pedometer or Runtastic Pedometer.

CartwheelWhat?s it about? Grab discounts at Target stores with the help of the company's newly released app, Cartwheel.

What?s cool? Cartwheel is a beta release of an app from Target stores meant to get you shopping. The app brings you all kinds of cool deals that can help you save on products you get in the store, knocking off anywhere from 5 to 30 percent on various purchases. Cartwheel also lets you share different discounts with friends across Facebook, and allows you to stack discounts with coupons and other offers. Perhaps most useful is the fact that the discounts you receive are tailored to your buying habits, allowing you save money on the things you get most often.

Who?s it for? If you're an avid Target shopper and don't mind sharing data about what you buy at the store, Cartwheel can save you money.

What?s it like? Also useful for savings are Groupon and LivingSocial.

Samurai Shodown IIWhat?s it about? Side-scroller Samurai Shodown II puts players in the role of a samurai warrior in a side-scrolling fighting title that's all about one-on-one duels.

What?s cool? The best-loved title in SNK's Samurai Shodown series, Samurai Shodown II puts a katana in players' hands and pits them against single combatants in a fighting game that's all about weapons. The game includes 15 sword fighters you can choose from to enter into battles, and the developer has expanded the list of fighting moves in the game from its original release on the NEOGEO back in the 1990s. Samurai Shodown II has also been optimized for touchscreen devices, and includes Bluetooth multiplayer, so you can take on your friends in duels, as well.

Who?s it for? If you're a fan of fighting titles or the Samurai Shodown series, you're going to want to grab Samurai Shodown II.

What?s it like? Lots of other cool SNK games have been ported to Android as well, including Metal Slug 3 and Blazing Star.
