This morning, T+L's digital projects editor, Sarah Spagnolo, launched a new series on the Weather Channel, Get Up and Go with Al Rocker. Twice a month, we'll feature weekend getaways from a U.S. city. First up: Miami.

Just an hour and 40 minute drive west of Miami, the Everglades is a 1.5 million acre National Park on the southern tip of Florida?it?s the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States. WHERE TO STAY Ivey House Inn, a modern eco-lodge that dates back to the 1920?s, when outdoorsmen came to the area to build the Tamiami Trail (the 275-mile route is still a great road trip). PRICE Less than $200 a night.

Seaside Resort: Vero Beach

This stretch of white sand is less crowded than South Beach, especially in high season. It?s just a 2.5-hour drive north of Miami on the I-95. WHERE TO STAY Gloria and Emilio Estefan are the owners of Costa d?Este Beach Resort, a 94-room beachfront hideaway with Art Deco-style furnishings and Egyptian cotton sheets. Don?t miss a hot lava shell massage and the signature cocktail, ?The Rhythm?s Gonna Get You,? made with double espresso vodka and cream. PRICE Doubles from $211.

Family Getaway: Orlando

Drive four hours north of Miami for the Happiest Place on Earth: 47 square miles that contain four theme parks, 2 waterslide parks, and plenty of hotels. WHERE TO STAY The Bohemian Hotel, in Celebration, Florida, is an affordable escape in the town of Celebration, a planned community with ice cream shops, small boutiques, and a movie theater. Shuttles will take you to the parks, just a five-minute ride away. This spring, there?s also a flower show at Epcot, and Elton John and Billy Joel will perform at the Amway Center on March 10th.
